Many congratulations to Anzar on passing his PhD viva with minor corrections - and
thanks to examiners Richard Mead (Sheffield Medical School) and David Lyons (University of Edinburgh).  Anzar gave an excellent pre-viva talk in the morning and we all enjoyed a post-viva celebration in the afternoon!

Tanya and Nick attended the Crick Bioimage Analysis Symposium 2021 online.

Congratulations to Tania Mendonca, Ana, Sarah and our collaborators in the Frangi group - Tania's image analysis paper is now published in PLoS Computational Biology:

Sarah gave an excellent short talk on the adhesion class GPCR Adgrg6 and the ongoing small molecule screening work in the lab at the BMS Research Away Day.  This was the last departmental event before the merger to form the School of Biosciences, which launches in September.

Anzar gave an excellent talk at the Adher'n Rise COST action meeting on Adhesion Class GPCRs.  The Adher'n Rise network promotes research on aGPCRs across Europe.

Many congratulations to our undergraduate research project student Rita Dapaah, who has graduated with a First Class degree and the Brian Clarke Prize for enhancing the learning experience of BMS undergraduates.

January 2021

At the end of the month, lab members attended the virtual 33rd Head Group Meeting on Craniofacial and Neural Development, and enjoyed the Peter Thorogood Memorial Lecture delivered by Robert Kelsh (University of Bath).

We exhibited work from the lab at the Jacalyn Duffin Health and Humanities Conference Sensations and the Sensational, Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada.  Our images looked very fine on the walls of their virtual art gallery:

We also enjoyed excellent talks at the one-day North of England Developmental Biology Symposium 2021, organised by Marysia Placzek, Shane Herbert and Raman Das.
